Forty years, that sounds like such a long time, but how quickly it has
passed.
I spent the first eleven years in Aberdeen, the
next four years in San Francisco and the last twenty-five here in
Denver. Twenty-three of those years have been spent working at the
Sampsonite Luggage Corporation. I'm looking forward to retirement in
five years.
I have nineteen grandchildren ranging in age
from nine months to twenty years. I am enjoying the single life again
and keeping busy with my job and family. I'm looking forward to seeing
old friends again.

Forty
Years!!!!! My how time flies when you're having fun!!!!!!
My major project in life was raising six boys.
Now I feel like a true survivor - Lee and I are still at home and the
boys are gone.
I now have my own bathroom where the toilet
seat is always DOWN - and most important - not WET!!!!!
I graduated from college in 1981 - it takes
some of us longer!!!!!
My only claim to fame is, in 1988 I played on a
league tennis team that played in and won a National Championship at
Seabrook Island, So. Carolina. WHAT A TRIP!!!!!
I subscribe to the "philosophy of
life" that each day is a gift and I am going to enjoy everyone of
them!!!!!

and I were married December 26, 1989. She was imported from Canada under
the North American Free Trade Agreement. We spent our honeymoon on a
42-foot houseboat exploring the B.C. wilderness. If you haven't been
there, it's a great way to get acquainted (or re-acquainted). We live in
Monroe, Washington and all of our children are settled in
"nests" of their own.
Between us, we have 7 children, 14
grandchildren and Lady Esther (our very spoiled dog). Twelve of our
grandchildren live in the Seattle area. Obviously, Christmas is truly a
time of celebration for us.
Over the past 30 years, or so, I have worked in
advertising and marketing, mostly for advertising agencies. Jeannie is a
newspaper advertising sales representative. Recently we made the
decision to combine our advertising talents and formed our own company.
Jesus is our best friend. We look forward to
Him to direct our marriage and He continues to nudge and prod us in the
right direction.
Outside of our work we are in the process of
clearing 2 1/2 acres of land on Guemes Island in the San Juans. Jeannie
bought me a bulldozer for Valentine's Day (I bought her flowers). Next
year we hope to start building our log house on the Island. All of you
are invited to the log raising. Please bring the following: strong rope,
pulleys, tractors, (we already have the bulldozer, thank you), crane or
forklift, food (optional) and, of course, strong backs.

Hi, finally getting around
to looking at my past 50 years. Doesn't sound too interesting but it has
been!
Married soon after graduation. Moved to
Seattle-Everett-Tacoma area and worked in the banking field for 15
years. Divorced after 18 years of marriage, no children. Re-married and
raised two step children, boy and girl. We lived in the Roy area on 25
acres with horses and beautiful view of Mt. Rainier! When my husband
retired we moved to Yakima. We now have 10 acres with horse facilities.
We board horses and have some of our own. Our son works at Boeing and
our daughter teaches Spanish in Puyallup. I still make several
trips to visit friends and relatives and do miss the West side!!

Following
graduation from AHS, I attended University of Washington, Pacific
Lutheran University, Augustana, Rock Island, Illinois seminaries and
etc . . . till I finally became a Lutheran pastor, since then I have
had churches in Tacoma, Spokane, Beaverton, Redmond and Salem.
In 1957, I married Lois and we now have three
unmarried children: Cindy, living in Washington, D.C., Steven in
Minneapolis, and Luther in Seattle.
I periodically visit my 91-year-old mother
who still lives on her own in Aberdeen. My hobbies are only marginally
developed. Most of my free time involves people and friends with
private time spent leisurely on the Oregon coast or doing some
traveling. Fortunately, to date, I have had a very good life with some
gray hair to prove it hasn't been perfect. I hope to attend at least
part of the reunion festivities.
The best to all.

Dear
Classmates:
Here I am, sixty years old, gray headed, my
wife is not. She is my life. We've had a wonderful life together.
I am writing this from Northern California
where my son and my daughter live with three grandchildren. And we
also have two grandchildren in Aberdeen and that makes five in all.
I spent four years in the Navy at the end of
World War II and the Korean Conflict.
I worked for Evans Products thirty years as a
millwright and I enjoyed my work. My wife worked for the Daily World
for ten years. We both retired three years ago, we sold our home and
now we are snow birds. We left Elma last September and we have seen
the Western half of the United States. And we are hoping to see the
Eastern half of the United States in the next three years.
We are hoping to be back in Grays Harbor in
June for a short stay. I don't know yet if we will be there for the
reunion or not, but we are going to try.
We have a new motor home, it is a 34' Itasca
Suncruiser and we are real happy with it. We also have a Jeep Cherokee
that we pull. We are having a lot of fun.

I've
been a Hill since 1953. A mother since 1956. I had two girls and one
boy. The oldest girl died in 1989. I became a grandmother in 1983 and
again in 1988. We have lived in our dream house for 17 years. We live
3 blocks from our church. I sing in the choir. Our church is a big
part or our lives.
Favorite pastime is watching "The Young
And The Restless", "As The World Turns", and
"Guiding Light". I like to record movies for us and for our
grandchildren.
Life is a joy when you have children and
grandchildren.

Over
the last 40 years I've done a lot of different things, and have been
very fortunate to have a great husband, three wonderful kids and 2
grandchildren, and the good health and energy needed to roll with the
punches, the economy, and the times.
A quick chronicle of events, starting with
fall of 1951: went to Stanford, studied Education, met a guy named
Noel, graduated, married the guy, moved to Michigan, taught first
grade, had three babies in 3 years, did housework, moved to
California, moved to Utah, more housework, put children in school,,
put myself back in college, TA'd in math, got masters in Mathematics,
gave up housework, goofed off, traveled, got job, got better job (as
Applied Mathematician), attended kids' three college graduations, gave
up cooking, got promotions (Automation Manager!), mastered the
personal computer, got laid off, hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, survived
unemployment (yuck!), found new job, learned new field, got better job
with too much travel, got new job.
That brings you right up to date. I am now
working for a small defense contractor, developing computer software
for a flight simulation trainer for a Navy helicopter that hunts down
submarines. Although this job is fascinating, I am distracted by
several new obsessions. I want to write stories (maybe novels) about
my eccentric relatives, and I want to edit and publish some of the
interesting writing that appeared in the Grays Harbor Post years ago.
My husband and I love to hike in Southern
Utah and enjoy playing with our grandson. Neither of us had plans to
retire, as yet.
