I've
had a variety of jobs. I should have gone to college and studied music.
We get "too soon old and too late smart". I played organ for
dancing for 15 years. Have been organist at Open Bible Church in
Aberdeen for years. Play piano and am learning the synthesizer in
church.
I love to dance, go for walks, feed sea gulls, write poetry, love music
and singing and enjoy helping others. Also, like browsing at garage
sales. Would like to retire, but I'm not smart enough to figure out how
to survive on no income.
I have 2 sons. Bob is an Electronic Engineer for General Dynamics. He
lives in Upland, California. He has a son and daughter. My other son,
John, does yard work and plays drums, he is 30 and single.
I have an Old English sheep dog, Alfie, he is 8 years old and weighs 70
pounds. I call him my "late in life" child. My son gave him to
me when the dog needed shots, food, etc., for a present. I used to be
afraid of dogs, but really like them now. I'm getting a good sense of
humor, which is important as we grow older.
Classmates . . . Life is very precious, so don't wait until retirement
to do all the things you want. Enjoy yourself now. We've lost 5 precious
classmates since our last reunion. Time flies so swiftly.

High to all Class of '51 grads.
This is your 'limey' classmate who transplanted
to Aberdeen in his freshman year from London. As I recall I really had a
lot to learn during those high school years, but thanks to your
'tutelage' I learned many important things about American culture and
society. My memories of those times include a collage of isolated
incidents, I did learn a lot but also committed many 'faux pas' due to
my lack of understanding of American life. Thanks for helping me and
also suffering through those other times. Fortunately, since those early
learning days life has treated me well in marriage, children, and choice
of occupation.
A brief history of the last 50 years
includes working for two years at Aberdeen Optical, followed by four
years in the Air Force (U.S. that is). In 1955 I became a naturalized
citizen. I met Carol, the love of my life, in 1958 and we both attended
Oregon State - go Beavers. Married in '59 we had a son just before
graduation in '61. Began a teaching career in Alban, OR. Our daughter
was born in 1964, then we moved to Los Angeles where I received an M.S.
from USC - go Trojans. Spent several summer sessions at the U of O
getting an administrative certificate - go Ducks. We moved several times
but finally settled in Dallas, Oregon where I was a middle school principal
and district administrator while Carol taught third grade. 32 years in
education - I even counseled for two years at Hopkins Middle School in
Aberdeen - retirement came in '93. Gee, that was a fast 42 years.
I never learned to hit a golf ball, but Carol
and I had this love of travel, so we bought a travel agency. This was
sold recently - the airlines don't like us - but I am continuing to work
part-time in outside sales so that we can continue to travel. We still
live in Dallas, have three grandchildren who fortunately live in the
same town so we can see them often. We built a new home which we
thoroughly enjoy, are involved in church activities, and are very happy
with our lives.
Regretfully I cannot attend the 50th reunion as
one of those travel agent specials came through and we will be cruising
the Baltic for twelve days, followed by 5 days in the Motherland
(England). I will be sincerely thinking about all of you as you renew
old acquaintances and friendships. If any of you would like to make
contact with me, my e-mail address is posted on the Classmate e-mail
page of this web site.
Have a great reunion, relive the old times, and
take a moment to remember those that cannot attend.

Not
really a whole lot to tell. Had two children, have 3 grandchildren,
Krista 13, Chad 11 and Melissa 3. Do greatly enjoy them and lucky they
all live close by.
I have lived in Fortuna since 1952, so this is home.
I worked most of the time until four years ago. Worked for County Clerk's office. Quit to take care of my parents.
Husband Ed will be retiring next year.
I love landscaping and flower gardening. Do a lot of
"Counted Cross Stitch" and love the beach. We go a lot. Life
is very wonderful for us. Usual problems, lost both Mothers this year, but we are grateful for good health, etc.

During
the last 39 years of marriage, we have gone from a 5 bedroom house to a
2 bedroom apt. Our family has increased from 5 children to now include
14 grandchildren. Our family has moved from the States to as far as
Germany . . . this was great for us . . . we enjoyed a vacation in
Germany as a result. It was wonderful.
During the Persian Gulf episode, we had one son
and 2 sons-in-law in Saudi-Arabia. One is still there. This was a most
trying time for us all. Thank God, it's over.
Time goes by so swiftly, I will celebrate 22
years at Tacoma General Hospital this August. Who would ever believe it?
Thanks to all for their efforts toward the reunion, committee work is
never really given the credit it deserves.
