Edna Jean and I were married on June 12, 1955, two weeks after I earned
a degree at Whitman and she completed her studies at WSC. We moved to
Vancouver, Washington in the fall of 1955 and I earned a masters degree
in psychology at the University of Portland.
In January, 1959, I went to work teaching at
Clark College after a year as a social worker.
In 1963 we adopted a son, Doug, and in 1975, a daughter, Jane.
I went back to school in 1970 at the University
of Oregon and earned a Ph.D. in psychology with a supporting area in
computer science in 1973.
I still teach psychology and a little computer
science at Clark College.

After high school graduation, I came to Seattle to attend Virginia Mason
Hospital School of Nursing. I received my RN from the University of
Washington and worked at Virginia Mason for a year.
Harold and I got married in 1955 and after he
finished college, we stayed here in Seattle where we still live. He
worked in the comptrollers division at the University of Washington and
is now in the University Hospital Accounting Department.
Fifteen years ago I decided to go back to
gainful employment and started at Visiting Nurse Service where I am
currently employed. I am now working in Quality Assurance after ten
years of field work. Our three children are still here in the Seattle
area. Our oldest daughter died in 1982 from a ruptured aortic aneurysm.
I enjoy entertaining my two year old
granddaughter and am looking forward to a trip to New Hampshire to visit
our 9 year old granddaughter and her new baby sister.
I am not quite ready for retirement, my job is
just too interesting. In a few years when I do retire, I look forward to
spending more time with the grandchildren, begin gardening again and do
all the other things I don't have time for now.

After leaving Aberdeen, I spent two years in the Navy and seven years
in college receiving my Doctorate in Law and LL.M. in taxation from
New York University.
I settled in Gresham in 1961 in what was a
rural suburb of Portland with 3,500 people. I've grown along with the
city which now has 65,000 inhabitants. During that period of time, I
have been very active in my community and have served as the President
of the local Chamber of Commerce, several service organizations, on
the Board of Directors of Mt. Hood Community College and currently
Past President and member of the Mt. Hood Community Foundation.
I have a 32-year-old son, Corey, who is a
successful businessman and owns his own company which sets up video
movie departments in major grocery stores. My second son, Craig, has
his degree as an Electronic Engineer/Computer Science. Both of my
older boys live in the Portland Metropolitan Area.
During the period of time that they were
growing up, I was very active as a water skier, Boy Scout leader and
enthusiastic rooter of their high school athletic events. However,
since neither of them has deigned to present any grandchildren to me,
I took matters into my own hands and in December of 1988, my wife gave
birth to twins, Jonathan - a big, stocky guy with deep dimples and
straight hair, and Elizabeth - a tall, slender stealer of hearts with
curly hair. As you can surmise, "retirement" is not in my
vocabulary and it's probably a good thing, because I do enjoy the
work I do.
All in all, life has been very good to me and
has afforded me the opportunity to do many things which I never
dreamed I would do when I left good old Weatherwax High School.

I attended U.P.S. undergraduate school, and the University of
Washington graduate school, majoring in music; minors in history and
Swedish. I taught 35 years at all levels of education. I spent one
summer in Northern Europe and one vacation in Southern Europe. I've
raised one son and two daughters. The oldest two have completed
college.
My special interests are traveling, visiting
close friends and fishing. I am an ardent basketball fan. Much of our
time in summer is spent at our lake home near Shelton.
