John S. Marvin

Graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1955 in Business Administration. Worked until drafted in May of 1956. In August of 1955 I married Carole Kari, a Hoquiam graduate, class of 1952. I spent my Army days in the medical corps, mostly playing basketball.
After getting out of the Army, I returned to college to get a teaching certificate. I coached JV basketball at U.P.S. from 1958-1962 and began teaching mathematics at Steward Jr. High in Tacoma in 1960.
We have three daughters, Lynne Marvin, age 29 living and working in San Diego; Lisa Marvin, age 26, living and working in San Diego; and Dawn Marvin Rizzo, age 21, living and working in Tacoma.
For two years I taught algebra on Homework Hotline, a Tacoma program to help students having difficulty with Language Arts and Mathematics.
I look forward to retirement in 1992.

Ruth E. Millin

Now they are referred to as the "Fabulous Fifties" and they certainly were times much less stressful and complex than now.
Following graduation in 1957, in Portland, from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, I settled into my nursing career, which continues until the present. Approximately 10 years were spent in Portland, there I became involved in nursing in the Coronary Care Unit in the Pacific Northwest.
In 1969, I returned to Aberdeen, to help with education, and to help establish and become the Head Nurse in the CCU at Community Hospital. There I remained until about 4 years ago when I transferred to the new 10-bed Intensive Care Unit.
I am thankful for a loving family, good friends, and the help and presence of  The Lord, day by day.
May He bless each of you and your families in the '90s.

Dorma McDuffee Hughes

Worked in Aberdeen 10 years at Tom Birk Drug, clerking and trimming windows and learned to paint signs. I do church bazaar signs every year.
Had three babies, housewife 13 years. Worked in Burbank, California for 5 years checking orders in a vitamin plant. Worked at cartoon companies 12 years: Hanna Barbera 2 years, Filmation 7 years, Disney 1 year, Murakami, Wolf and Swenson 2 years.
I paint models with 5 other ladies. This work is sent overseas to be painted cel by cel  for Saturday morning cartoons. At Filmation we painted the entire production, sure was fun. I use an earphone to my TV/radio or listen to books on tape or classical or country western music while working. What a wonderful way to make a living.
I attend church every Sunday and enjoy a Champagne Brunch every so often with my kids or my boy friend Kelly.
Looking forward to seeing you July 19th.
