Charles G. Ragus

Forty years. Some said I would not make it this long, I fooled them.
Stayed in Aberdeen after high school, went to GH College, then to work, then to service of Uncle Sam for a couple of years. Came home and went to work at the new Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Cosmopolis, 1959. Worked as a supervisor in some different parts of the mill. In 1976 went to sorting yard where we processed logs for export to Japan.
Made a couple of mistakes along the way and finally married the girl my mother used to bring home to dinner.
Colleen and I bought our retirement home on Hood Canal, I retired January 8, 1991. Now I fish, crab, dig clams, shuck oysters and catch shrimp. Also run and work on my boat.
Colleen retired in June of this year, we now do whatever we wish . . . when the tide is out, the table is set.
No more work, except "honey do this", "honey do that". Love It!

Mollie Rehm Sandberg

Having shoveled snow and dodged tornadoes in Michigan for 17 years while John was Dean of the College of Education at Western Michigan University, I finally convinced him of the error of his ways, got him retired and got us moved to Florida. We built a lovely big deck overlooking Sarasota Bay just one block from the Gulf of Mexico and incidentally attached a house to it with separate quarters for house guests. We have had a lot of company from Oregon once they discovered there was another coast to this country! A warmer one I might add.
We are now involved, deeply, in our little community on the beach. It is much like the Oregon coast in makeup and being small, needs lots of help. We are in the process of helping them build a community library and working with the Mayor through the Civic Association which John heads, not to mention the city Boards on which we serve.
And since we let retirement go to our heads, thinking it led to all kinds of time, we also agreed to work a quarter of the year as consultants for Western Michigan University. What it entails is a week's commitment to each of the Capitols in all 50 states over the next 5 years. The Pacific Northwest is on our agenda for next fall, but not, I'm afraid, in time for the reunion in July. I expect to be playing grandmother for the first time about then and I know I won't be ready to abandon the role so soon.
So, hello to everyone, I'll sit out on our deck with a nice cool mint julep, and with baby on my lap, hoist a toast and think good thoughts of you all come Saturday night, July 20th.
Don't any of you ever think of coming to the Tampa Bay area without getting in touch! Bring your bathing suits and forget the suntan oil, we've got gallons of it . . .

Helen Rotous Rockas, M.D.

To reflect on our lives, for the past 40 years . . . what a GIANT task you have given us!
Well, here goes. After leaving good of Weatherwax Hi, I trekked to Seattle like many of us and wandered the hallowed halls of the University of Washington. After 7 years I was awarded my M.D. from one of the best medical schools in the country, the University of Washington School of Medicine. Then I decided it was time to go South to sunny California. I interned at Sacramento Medical Center for one year and then was employed for 2 years as a civilian physician at McClellan AFB just north of Sacramento.
I met and fell in love with an attorney from Fresno and this year we are sharing our 30th year together. I studied Pediatrics at the Valley Medical Center in Fresno and entered private practice with another pediatrician which gave me time to raise my children who have enriched our lives. Patti, 28, is married and now lives in Chapel Hill, N.C. where her husband is pursuing a PhD in Genetics. Patti graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in organizational communications and management. She is entering an MBA program at the University of North Carolina. Grandchildren will be delayed a bit. Andy, 25, a history graduate from U.C. Berkeley, just completed 15 months as a journalist in Santiago, Chile. Now back in the U.S. and graduate school.
For the past 16 years I have been a developmental pediatrician employed by the Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled and for the past 4 years I have been medical director of this program which coordinates services for those who have mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism. I have found this work very interesting and intellectually stimulating.
The Greek Orthodox Church in Fresno has been our extended family and has allowed us to worship as well as enjoy the language, customs and culture of our forefathers.
My father died two years ago but my mother still lives in Aberdeen and I visit her whenever I can. Hope to see you all soon.

Wayne E. Revelle

Moved from Medford, Oregon to Portland area in 1989, (move #10).
Remarried in 1988. Have 4 grandchildren that are a real joy!
Have been working for PacifiCorp for 25 years plus. Before that, I spent 10 years in the missile and space industry in California.
Still enjoy fishing (when time permits), boating and traveling, amateur radio, etc.

Marianne Reynolds Olson

With age some people loose their memory and forget to send in their change of address for the school reunion list. In my case this was not true. While we have moved beneath the canopy of Mt. Baker and built a new home along one of her most beautiful rivers, the Nooksack, it was the overwhelming fragrance of the country on our mind that delayed our change of address update.
Richard and I have two handsome sons and two beautiful daughters that due to their age live in the vicinity but not at home. Out of three married children we have been blessed with four exceptionally good looking grandchildren.
I am still teaching children to read, write, tie their shoes and wipe noses and anything else that runs, when I have to. My hobbies tend to follow along the lines of teaching, reading, traveling, drinking wine and relaxing in the hot tub. Richard has recently retired from the farm but not farm life. He still thinks he has to grow or raise something. Richard's hobbies still involve hiking, climbing mountains, hunting, fishing, traveling and keeping me physically, emotionally, and financially satisfied.
I regret to say after all this that we will be unable to attend the reunion due to our prior travel arrangements. We will be out of the country in July.
This can't possibly be our 40th reunion as I am only 39!

Bernard P. Rudis, M.D.

I have been practicing medicine and very busy.
I have raised my five children by myself. My oldest son is a doctor. My oldest daughter manages offices for lawyers. My middle daughter is a 5th grade teacher. My youngest son owns a used car lot and has his own financial corporation. My youngest daughter is 14 and still in school, she probably will be a writer.
Besides golf, my hobby is collecting LP's, jazz and classical. I have no grandchildren. My oldest son in the only one of my children that is married.

Robert C. Rux

Retired from Boeing after 33½ years on June 28 of this year, I was an Experimental Flight Test Engineer. Plan on spending more time fishing with 2 grandchildren (both girls). Still building model airplanes, and whatever else it is that retired people do.
Would have liked to attend the reunion, but will be out of town the months of July and August.
