Lourayne Scogin Chase

Elmer and I were married in 1951 and then he spent three years in the Coast Guard.
We have three children, two boys and a girl. They were born in 1954, 1957 and 1960. The next twenty years we spent raising our family with all the fun of parenting. The enjoyment of all the ball games, music lessons, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, birthday parties, slumber parties, dating, driving lessons, graduations, etc., those were good times.
We chaperoned our oldest son's high school marching band on a trip to Washington, D.C. and Florida in 1973. Taking a trip across the country with 100-plus high school students is an experience. It was a great trip.
We went to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
We have enjoyed having an empty nest for the past ten years. We have celebrated the weddings of our two oldest children and the great joy of grandchildren, three boys and two girls ranging in age from six years to the youngest of five months.
We look forward to Elmer's retirement in a year or two. We would like to take a long driving trip around the United States. There are so many historical places we would like to visit.

ODE TO THE 40-YEAR REUNION

Five more years has passed,
I think time is going much too fast.
I've got another wrinkle or two,
Wonder if I could hold them up with super   glue?
And I've retired from 'ol SeaFirst,
And I'm enjoying life before it's time for the hearse.
Husband Joe is still with ITT,
And countin' the days before he's free
Most of our grandkids are now in school,
And I race from Little League
To the `Nat' swimming pool.
And to see them compete and win Where I have failed,
Keeps my days from getting stale.
We take trips when we can get away
And summers find us at Hoods Canal,
Where we swim, crab and play.
In general life is more precious,
Friends dearer, too.
And I'm just thankful God gave me this chance
For another reunion with you.

Glenn G. "Jerry" Smith

The last 15 years I've spent working in the Soviet Union. My present company is a public company traded over the counter and specializes in Soviet trade. The computer business has moved our family from Seattle to St. Louis to Seattle to San Jose to Vienna, Austria and finally to rest in San Jose. Our company has ownership in 3 Soviet enterprises at present in the USSR with expansion in our plans. These enterprises employ approximately 200 Soviet workers.
I am now retired and have sold my business. More time for golf in the future, I hope.

We keep the boat at Hood Canal and spend a lot of time there. Over the years, I've built several boats, a dory, 2 kayaks, and an English rowing wherry. I'm now building a Norwegian rowing boat.
We do quite a bit of trailer camping and watch a lot of football, basketball, baseball and soccer games - four of our five teenage grandsons are involved in sports. Lucky they live in the area.
