In July of 1951, I went into the Army for a 3-year hitch. Trained at
Fort Ord, California and Fort Benning, Georgia. Served in Korea and at
Fort Lewis. After discharge, went to Grays Harbor J.C. for 6 months,
then to Oregon Tech for one year of carpentry.
Married Neila Young, (Skipper's younger
sister). We raised 5 children: Cheryl, Kelsey, Matt, Guy and Delores. We
now have 13 grandchildren.
Worked construction for a few years. Went into
the woods and worked as a tree faller and also commercially fished.
Spent time in LaPush, Coffman Cove, Alaska, and West Fork of the Satsop
river.
Now retired and living in Taholah repairing and
building boats.
About 30 years ago sobered up through AA and
joined the Church of the Latter Day Saints, (Mormon).
Have been with the Boy Scouts of America for twenty some
years and enjoyed working with scouts as Scoutmaster. The
last 8 years I worked at the Centralia Coal Mine as a Heavy Haul driver,
when I was given a disability retirement.

Greetings to all. It hardly seems like 40 years. In way of an update,
I've just completed a successful year of retirement after teaching
school for 22 years. I've spent the last year doing crossword puzzles
which has meant that I've finally been able to use my high school Latin
(special thanks to Miss Fetvedt). And I've been doing all sorts of
artsy-craftsy things, too. Much to my family's relief, I think I'm
through with CRAFTS. Now I'm into drawing nudes but it will be awhile
before I start painting, framing, and bestowing which will give those
close to me time to figure out how they're going to handle the
inevitable "gifts."
We are thrilled to have two beautiful
grandchildren who are to us, the most wonderful little people around.
I'm sorry to miss all the reunion festivities
which sound fun but hope to make the next one.

Forty Years, whew! What to say for all those years. Married Howard
Murphy, had two children, he passed away. Married Gerald Guile, raised
another family, a son, Travis and a daughter, Tammy. Tammy is a Junior
in high school and planning on college after graduation.
Gerald and I were married 23 years in June.
We still live in the country. Lost everything in a fire in 1983 but
now have a beautiful new home on the same property. No one was hurt in
the fire.
I have a craft business, Big Foot Country
Crafts, enjoy it very much.
This July we will be in New York State.
Gerald is visiting his childhood haunts, showing his daughter that
beautiful country. This will be the first reunion I have missed. See
you in 5 years, God willing.
Gerald still works for Lamb Grays Harbor,
operating a computerized template torch.
Hobbies: wood crafts, gardening, sewing and beach combing.

1951-1960 worked off and on, got married, had kids.
1960-1980 raised kids . . . did the usual Cub
Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Little League, school sports, etc., and
volunteer work.
Got the kids married, supervised the births of 5 grandsons and offered
much valuable (?) advice on their care and upbringing.
1980-1990, after Harold announced that he'd
supported me for 30 years and that I could take the next 30, I worked
in a Union Office for 10 years. I may go back to work if I can find a
job with high pay, short hours, good location and a boss who doesn't
mind me ordering him around.
In the meantime, I knit, sew, read, shop,
trailer camp, do yard work, haul firewood and order Harold around,
(which he completely ignores).
We try to take in all our grandson's sporting
events Hoquiam Middle School, Hoquiam High, Miller Jr. High and
Weatherwax High - one kid in each school. We sometimes have trouble
deciding which side of the bleachers to sit on and which kid to cheer
for!

Single 22 years. Mother, 2 brothers and families living in Seattle.
Married 36 years. Two sons living in
Portland, daughter and husband living in San Francisco.
Ken and I have lived in Portland all our
married years, apartment, apartment, house, house. We've been in our
present home 26 years.
I like to travel, in mind, memory and
imagination. I walk the neighborhood and imagine I'm at the beach. If
I grow to be very old, I'll live at the beach and tutor children.
Children who want a part-time mother who will let them be themselves.

Mary and I will become grandparents in May, 1991 and this a proud
moment for us. All of the four children are doing well. The oldest son
is an Electrical Engineer, married and living in their own home near
us. (This is a tremendous accomplishment for young couples).
Our oldest daughter is an accountant and
about to become a mother, as I mentioned above. They are living in
their own home in Cupertino.
The youngest daughter received her degree in
Child Care and is now going for her teaching credentials at Fresno
State to teach K-6 grades upon completion. She and husband have
purchased their own home in Fresno.
The youngest son is a senior in high school.
He was on the football team which came in second in the county. His
sport is baseball though, where he is a pitcher and second base man
and does extremely well.
Mary is a teacher's assistant in Special
Education at the junior high level and really enjoys it.
My work has been primarily with couples who
are having problems in their marriage. I'm the Director of the Marital
Stress Hotline in the San Jose area, many couples who are in a crisis,
telephone for help. This is a very rewarding experience for me as a
Social Worker and it has been challenging over the 31 years.
