Kenneth Wambolt

Following high school graduation, I spent 4 years in the Navy. Thereafter, I attended Grays Harbor J.C. for two years and then two years at the University of Washington, graduating with a BA.
Following graduation I went to work for the Aetna Life and Casualty, for whom I work for 31 years. With Aetna, I first spent 10 years in Seattle, then 2 years in Connecticut, then 8 years in San Francisco, then 5 years in Grand Rapids, Michigan, then 5 years in Hartford and returned to Sacramento where I retired from Aetna in December, 1989.
Mary and I have been married for 42 years, have two daughters and one granddaughter
and one grandson. I am presently involved in my various hobbies of making jewelry, metal sculpture and oil painting.
We moved back to Washington in 1996 and live in Port Orchard.

Marjorie Welsh Noel

After graduation I worked off and on in various retail business positions and/or stayed home raising my family. In 1953 we had a son, Garry and in 1957 we had a daughter, Kathleen
In 1974-75 I went to Grays Harbor College and took a secretarial class. It was really hard going back to school after 20 years but I got straight A's!  When I graduated from this class I worked for 14 years at Grays Harbor Medical Bureau as Administrative Secretary. I retired in 1990 and I have been staying home enjoying being a grandma. I have the most wonderful and adorable 6-year-old grandson, Derek, in the world!!
I am still happily married to Don Noel, in fact, we will celebrate our 41st anniversary July 17, just two days before our 40th reunion date.

Jean Williams Mazzei

After twenty-five great years of teaching high school social studies, I retired and have been enjoying every minute of retirement as well!
I have been quite involved in tournament tennis, playing competitively in many Pacific Northwest Tennis Association sanctioned events throughout Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. Working on tournament committees and playing on several tennis teams have been fun; keeping track of the Senior Women's Grand Prix points for all of the PNWTA tournaments of the year is a challenge. Our Volvo Tennis Team won the Regionals this past year and we got to play in the Nationals held at Tucson, Arizona. My luck keeps holding up in singles competition, being ranked number one or two in the Pacific Northwest during each of the past several years. My husband and I have enjoyed watching professional tennis as well, several times at Wimbledon and once at the French Open.
Serving on the Board of the Tacoma Town Hall Lecture Series has been an important volunteer commitment for me. It has been a chance to meet some very interesting people close up. Another volunteer job is helping with the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition.
I really enjoyed my teaching career. I taught at Franklin Pierce High School along with several other Harbor area people . . . Russ Fulkerson, Ed Peterson (Weatherwax track coach), Jerry Corrigan (Hoquiam football player). World history and contemporary world problems were my specialties and among all sorts of other assignments, I taught a tennis class and was the pep staff adviser.
After graduating from Weatherwax, I attended Grays Harbor Community College, the University of Washington, and got my history and education degrees and did post graduate work at the University of Puget Sound.   Counting all the schools I attended from grade school to college, would you believe it totals 30?! My dad was a civil engineer and we had to move with each job assignment. In 1962 I married Sandy who was vice-principal at Jason Lee, then Stadium, and later became Administrator for Secondary Schools in Tacoma which has kept us closely involved in school and community affairs ever since.

Florence Wonesewicz Smith

Wasn't it just a few years ago we were signing our annuals? Seniors anticipating our adult years. Here we are "Seniors" again, preparing for our Golden Years!
I've spent all 40 years right here in Grays Harbor. Twenty five years ago we did move to Cosmopolis. We've traveled to various parts of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, So. America and Europe, but find this area to be pretty special.
I worked in banking for 4 years after high school and spent 25 years in the Credit Union field. Twenty years as manager of Grays Harbor Rayonier Federal in Hoquiam. In 1980 I quit and my husband, Ray and I semi-retired.
We now spend our days helping our parents who are 89, 91 and 93. We also bowl, camp and enjoy company.
We will be married 30 years in November and have 5 grandsons, who range in age from 3 to 23 and 4 sons, three living in Washington and one in Arizona.
Our last reunion was the greatest and looking forward to many more.

Harold L. Warren

In the eight years from 1951 to 1959 I completed my education at the University of Puget Sound, got married, served two years in the U.S. Army and started a family. In 1959, Pat and I and our very young family returned to Aberdeen. For the past thirty years I have been with the same accounting firm, now serving as the managing partner.
In the time that I have been a member of the community, I have enjoyed serving on various boards and organizations. For eight years I served on the Aberdeen School Board. Next year I will serve as President of the Aberdeen Lions Club.
Pat and I enjoy our home, gardening and improvement projects. However, after 25 years in the same home, the projects seem more difficult these days.
I must confess that I have not developed as many hobbies as I would have liked. We have raised and trained several pure-bred collie dogs in obedience work. I so some stained glass projects when time permits and I still enjoy playing racquetball with opponents of equal age.

Barbara Williams McInnis

After graduating from Weatherwax, I worked for the telephone company in Aberdeen and Seattle. Married 39 years ago to my high school sweetheart. Our three daughters are 37, 34 and 28.
The oldest, Joady, is working on her masters degree, and is the mother of 15 and 13-year-olds. Her husband, Scott, owns a logging company and log trucks. 15-year-old Scott is freshman class president, plays basketball and turns out for track. 13-yearold Lisa, a 7th grader, plays all sports and is an honor roll student.
Nancy, our second daughter, has 14 years with National Fruit and is the mother of two, Chris is 6 and Ashley is 3. Nancy's husband, Cliff, drives log truck and is maintenance man for our son-in-law, Scott.
Our baby, Marie, was a school bus driver for Olympia schools. She is married to Jon and they have a son, Michael, who is 8 months old. Jon is an accountant at PP&L in Centralia and is working on his masters degree.
My goal in life was to be a good mother and have a close knit family. By some people's standards, that's not too much of a goal. We now count lucky 13 and I feel my goal has been achieved, thanks to God and a very good helpmate.
Bob is looking forward to retirement in 1993 with 37½ years in the rail industry. Our interests include: family, travel, camping, woodworking, genealogy and country music.
To us the "Close Knit Family" is the American Dream!

Elizabeth Jean Wright

It would take volumes to tell what I've done in the last 40 years. Travel has played a major part.
First I graduated from Whitworth College, then completed a Dietetic at the University of Washington. I worked in Ellensburg for a time before heading to Fort Collins Colorado. While there, I ran a 400-bed dorm. At one point I sub-rented an apartment for a quarter. During finals week I came down with the measles. I had about a week between apartments, I never did get to Mexico as I had planned.
I was in Missoula, Montana for a bit over three years. It was there my real travels began. We were closed during the summer of 1963 to remodel. I took off 2 months to go around the world. Our whole department resigned in May of 1964, at that point I sold my car so I could save more money to travel, and spent 9 weeks in Europe.
I stayed at home for a time as Dad was not well, he decided to retire and I picked out the perfect trip for him. I ended up taking it myself. It took just under 4 months on an unusual round-the-world trip, a bit long even for me.
Then off to DeKalb, Illinois for 5 years. I took a number of trips during that time. Once again I was back in Aberdeen for a time. Then to Portland for 11 years, (a long time for me!) This was followed by 18 months in Vancouver. I have been here in Longview for 6 years, so it may be time to start thinking of moving on. In recent years I've been taking shorter trips, mainly to Canada. Last year I went to a family reunion in Northern Michigan. I had not met anyone from this side of my family. The best thing I can say for it was there was no drinking or smoking.
My hobbies are travel, hiking and embroidery. At the moment I am working with two other women on trying to set up a church library. We have lots of books, no money, and only one of us has any idea how to do it. It was supposed to open 3 months ago. Hopefully it will open next month.
