By September 1945, when the class entered their Senior year of High School, World War II had ended and the Atomic Age had begun.  Classmates George Piercy and Dennis Ford had joined the armed forces. Members of other classes who were returning to graduate with the class were Eugene Andrews, C. C. Hedrick, and Robert Wade.

Franklin D. Roosevelt had died less than six month before school started making Harry Truman the
President. Clarence Meadows was the Governor of West Virginia.

For recreation, Grand Theatre provided hours of movies for 25 cents. The local pool room was popular for the boys in the class. When winter came and enough snow fell, classmates could be seen sleigh riding down Brick Hill on Pocahontas Avenue. Ice skating on the "race" at the upper end of the Island Park was another winter sport the students enjoyed.

Since the class had less than ten boys who attended school their Senior year, most of the basketball and football teams were from other classes. "Cotton" Arthur and Pat O'Brien were the only class members on the football team. Under Coach "Toddy" Loudin's leadership the team had William Arthur as the only Senior on the team, with Pat O'Brien as manager. Softball was added to the athletic program in 1946 with Dane Moore on the team. The senior cheerleader was Mary Anna Dunn and Frances Honaker reigned as Queen of the Bulldogs.

The seven who were admitted to the National Forensic League were Dane Moore, Pat O'Brien, Virginia Walker, Sheila Stove, Sally Droste, Hilda McMillion, and Charlotte Wright. This league was an honor society based on outstanding work done in debating, orations, and extemporaneous speaking.

The American Legion Oratorical Contest was held with the subject, Constitution - The Temple of Liberty.

Virginia Walker won the local contest and went on to win the District contest, receiving a four year scholarship to the school of her choice and a cash prize of $30.00.

Miss Martha Ford directed the Senior Play, "Wedding Belle", a three-act farce, which was presented
April 30, 1946. Appearing in it were Charlotte Wright and Eugene Andrews in leading roles. Others in the cast were Dane Moore, Pat O'Brien, Margaret Mary Rasmussen, Sheila Stover, Louise Kirby, Bob Pauley, David Vint, and William Arthur.

Pat O'Brien and Hilda McMillion were Co-Editors of the Gossip, published every six weeks, subscription for one year was 50 cents or 10 cents a copy.

The Seniors traveled to Babcock State Park on May 10 for the Senior Picnic. A banquet was held in the Trinity Methodist Church on Friday, May 17. There was no prom.

The Baccalaureate service was held in the gymnasium on Sunday, May 19 with the Rev. Ken Barnett delivering the Baccalaureate sermon.
