We have tried to compile some teams from each decade. Some of the photographs used were aged and could not be reproduced easily. We have tried to make sure that each person was identified and the names were correctly spelled. Please excuse any errors we might have made.

There are three or four photos from each decade from the 1920's forward.   We were unable to secure any later photos. When complete records, scores, and information  were available we listed this information.

Hope you enjoy it.

G.H.S. Shows Power in Defeating Lewisburg 41 to 6

A large homecoming crowd braved an intermittent sprinkling of rain to see Ronceverte roll over a cagey
Lewisburg team 41 to 6 on Island Park field here last Friday. It was L. Baker here, there and everywhere as the versatile Greenbrier High School fullback personally accounted for three TD's and helped his teammates set up the other three.

After the opening kick-off Greenbrier High School went to work from their own 25 yard line to drive 75 yards to pay dirt in the opening minutes of the game. L. Baker scored on a 32 yard dash off tackle.

In the second period K. Goodall intercepted a Lewisburg pass on the 50 yard line. L. Honaker clipped
off 10 yards and then a perfect 45 yard pass from L. Baker to K. Goodall was good for the second score. Line plays were good for both extra points and the score was 14 to 0. Still in the first half, T. Surber caught a
partially-blocked Lewisburg punt on the 40. Then T. Surber rang up two first downs. L. Honaker carried the
ball 10 yards to the 1 and L. Baker took it across on fourth down. Again the conversion was good and the
half-time count was 21 to 0.

L. Baker drew first blood in the second half, ripping through center for 38 yards for a touchdown. McCue of
Lewisburg ran back the next kick-off to the center stripe and it looked as if the Senators might move. But L.
Baker intercepted a pass on the 47 and on the next play K. Goodall raced 49 yards to the Lewisburg 9. T. Surber went to the 3 and a short pass from K. Goodall to John Hodge added 6 more points to Ronceverte's tally. This time the extra point was not good, the first and only of the day.

In the fourth quarter Joe Zimmerman of Lewisburg suddenly broke loose for 52 yards to the Greenbrier High School 4 yard line. Johnson carried the ball across for the visitors' only score two plays later.

First downs found Greenbrier High School on top 12 to 2. The locals were never forced to punt the entire game.

Every man in the Greenbrier High School played a superb game. Clinebell, back in the lineup after being out of the Alderson game, showed how much the team missed him the week before.

K. Goodall, a fast-improving player, did some excellent blocking, running and even passing. L. Baker, T. Surber and L. Honaker played their usual good game in the backfield. P. Donovan, A. Underwood, and N. Swink were strong as usual in the forward wall -- the best forward wall in the Greenbrier Valley this year.
Score by quarters:

Lewisburg 0 0 0 6 - 6
Ronceverte 7 14 13 7 - 41
