JOHN LANDIS YOUNG son of JACOB YOUNG and RACHEL GOODNIGHT was born 08 April 1795 in Mercer County, Kentucky and died 15 January 1882 in Decatur County, Iowa. He married JUDA GOLDSMITH 25 December 1817 in Shelby County, Kentucky. She is the daughter of VINCENT GOLDSMITH and ELIZABETH CLARK. She was born 25 January 1800 in Shelby County, Kentucky and died 1883 in Decator County, Iowa. John served in Captain Funk’s Company, Kentucky Troops in the Battle of New Orleans on 08 January 1815.
