High school graduation opened the door to my next six
years of study. My first year was spent at Southwest
Baptist College, then I moved to Georgetown College in
Georgetown, Kentucky and received my B.A. in 1964.
Two years later I graduated from Ohio State Univ. with
a Master's of Social Work. In June 1966, I settled in
Dayton, OH. The next nineteen years my life was filled
with work, friends, and my interest in showing animals.
With the animals I was very fortunate to have several
that were outstanding in personality and breed type: an
Afghan Hound, Champion Charikar Kapuchina; a West
Highland White Terrier, Champion Lady Briga Doon
MacDuff, and two Exotic Shorthair sisters Grand
Champion Colbyshire Corenant Wahine and Grand
Champion Colbyshire Covenant Waikik. The cats I
bred, but both dogs I purchased when they were young
puppies. Showing the animals involved a lot of
traveling throughout many states expanded friendships
throughout the country. Among my friends in Dayton I
found another Central High School graduate. She was
a graduate of the class of 1950, "a small world moment".
March 1985 marked another tuming point
in my life when I returned to this area. Some health
problems relating to diabetes, and the opportunity to
have a horse, and being geographically closer to my
parents were the deciding factors in the move. My
place is on the edge of town with about nine acres. The
house belonged to my great uncle so it pocesses a sense
of heritage. In my years here I have been able to realize
a life long dream of having an Arabian horse. In fact I
have had four. Through all the years I have been a
clinical social worker. I have worked with individuals,
couples, families, and groups. I have enjoyed it all. I
have achieved the status of Diplomate from both the
National Assoc of Social Workers and the American
Board of Examiners of Clinical Social Work. In
Kansas, my license for practice is at the highest level.
When I think back over my life, even with its ups and
downs, my memories are satisfing. I have had love
and encouragment from my family; solid friendships,
pleasure in profession, and some adventures along the
way. Maybe I will be able to join you at the Golden reunion!

and I am teaching at Reeds Springs. We enjoy the
lake and the shows in Branson. Hobbies are
reading, boating, teaching sunday school and playng with
granddaughter!

2 1/2 years. We bought a hardware store in Cassville,
MO. for six years. I have been teaching for the past 15
years in Washburn, Cassville and now second grade in
Reeds Spring, MO. I received Master of Education
degree from SMSU in Springfield in 1990. John and I
live on Tablerock Lake at Kimleerling City just minutes
away from Silver Dollar City and Branson attractions.

Public Schools for nine years. I moved to Arizona in
1973 and worked for Mesa Arizona Public Schools for
27 years. Before my retirement this year I was a school
counselor and served as the Director of Guidance and
Counseling for 14 years. After all these years since
Central High School, I did learn that the Hokey Pokey
IS what it's all about!

Frances Ann CARNNEY, age 66yrs, of Scottsdale, AZ.
passed away on February 2, 2009. Our Franny has left us to be with her Lord. We
rejoice in that, but will miss her beyond measure. She touched and helped so many
along life's path with her grace, honesty and goodness.
Born December 10, 1942, in Chicago, IL. to Earl and Eldra CARNEY, Fran was
raised in Independence. MO. and attended Central High School, Central Missouri State University,
the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Arizona State University, She taught for the
Kansas City Public Schools from 1964-1973. Moving to Phoenix in 1973, Fran was a member of the Mesa Public
Schools guidance and counseling department and director of guidance for Mesa Public Schools until her retirement
in 2000.
Fran is survived by Vicki SMITH of Scottsdate, AZ.
Mary Elizabeth Lewis of Lee's Summit, Mo.;
her aunt Fern Robertson of Temecula, Calif.;

I graduated from Howard Univ. in June 1964 with BS
in Psychology. I began working for the Veterans
Administration (VA) in July, intending to work a
couple of years before going to medical school. I retired
from the VA on Dec.30, 1997 and began working for
Brown & Company CPA's in Jan. 1998. I started in the
VA as a psychological research assistant and retired as
a Supervisory Information Systems Auditor in the
Office of Inspector General (OIG). I moved to Chicago
in 1965 to work as a programmer at the Hines Data
Processing Center. In 1972, having been promoted to
Chief of the Education Division, the VA sent me to
Cornell Univ. for a year in the graduate school of
management. During the six weeks of Christmas
break, I took the opportunity to visit Senegal, Nigeria,
Ghana, Mali, and Cameroon. It was one of the most
fascinating trips I have ever taken. Shortly after my
year at Cornell, I was transferred back to Washington,
DC Four years later I returned to Hines as the
Assistant Chief of Systems Division. One year later I
returned to Washington as the Chief, Financial and
Management Information Systems Division in the OIG.
After numerous reorganizations and several years of
frustration, I decided to return to school and change
careers. In June 1988, I received a Master of Social
Work from Catholic Univ. Unfortunately, I could not
live off a social worker's salary and decided to keep my
"good government job" until I retired. I spent eight
months on Capital Hill working in the office of then
Representative, now Senator, Barbara Boxer of
California. It was interesting, and by extrapolation
scary. seeing how our government is run from the
legislative side. In addition to the six countries I visited
in Africa I have traveled to Miexico, Canada, England,
Spain, Majorca, France, Austria, Sweden, Jamaica,
Bermuda, Barbados, China, Hong Kong (before the
turnover), Macao, and Hawaii plus at least a quarter of
the other 50 states. I hope to have taken my first cruise
(Athens, Istanbul, and five of the Greek Isles) by the
time of the reunion. I love to travel and plan to do a lot
more now that I am "retired". Having discovered that
life "begins at fifty" I hope to spend my next fifty years
discovering the rest of the world.

in 1969 to a wonderifil man. I became a Widow in 1982.
I have two wonderfill children - my son Derrick 38,
who is a computer analyst and my daughter (Named Removed Oct. 2007) age 29,
a secretary for the Screen Actors Guild. I have two
grandchildren Harmony, a11y and Symphony a2y. For 12
years I choreographed production shows as I became
very active in my church as a science of mind
practitioner. Cruised the Caribbean Islands 5 times,
Tahoe, Reno, and the Bahamas. I am currently
studying for a teacher/counselor's license for the
Understanding Principles Church, where the Rev. Della
Reese Len is the minister.

I was forced to take a disability retirement due to a very
painfial condition called peripheral nervopathy affecting
the nerves in my feet. My husband and I love to travel

crafts of which basket weaving is my favorite.

Gloria Ray, was one of the students who integrated
Central High School, Little Rock, over the objections
of Gov. Orville Faubus. She came to Kansas City to
live with an aunt in order to escape the psychological
trauma of Little Rock. Perhaps some inquiries in the
Little Rock area might bear fruit. Perhaps there is
a black history museum there. She would certainly
be a known entity there.

We do mission work on the border. We also spent time

15 in Excelsior and Jaylene has a boy 2 and a little girl
6 mo's. in Independence. We have a 5th wheel. Love

worked in surgery at various hospitals in K.C. We have

large portion of our time. We moved to Waverly in
1975. All our children graduated frorn WHS and all
received many athletk medals. Two of our sons have
numerous state medals. I graduated from Ottawa Univ.
in 1993. I have worked in long term care since 1992
and I currently the administrator of a 120 bed health

She and her husband of 37 years have 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital in 1964 and graduated from
Ottawa University in 1993. She is now an administrator of a
Health Center in Lenrxa, Kansas. Husband Bob is self-employed
in insurance and securities. They like to travel and have been
in 45 states, Canada and Mexico. All the children live in and
around Waverly except oldest son who is career Air Force and lives
in New Mexico. Daughter is six grade teacher. One son works at
Walmart distribution Center and the youngest son is OTR driver.

I attended Drury College in Springfield, MO., where I
became a member of Alpha Phi. In 1961, I married first
to Dennis Goddard, Paseo 1960, and we divorced in 1967.
I had two children, Troy, and JoEllen; both now live in
Kansas City area. Now I had the opportunity to start a
new life, with a new career in automotive dealership
administration, while learning how to be a single parent.
In 1970, I married 2nd to John Jackson; [had two additional
children, Jennifer, and Daniel. Jennifer now lives in
Augusta, GA. and Daniel is in the United States Navy
assigned to the NATO Headquarters in Brussels,
Belgium. John and I have had the opportunity to live in
several regions of the country. Our first travels were as
a military family while John was in the United States
Marine Corps and assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff
at the Pentagon. During this time, we enjoyed
becoming tour guides for our friends and family,
visiting the wonderfully historic Washington, D.C.
area. Our traveling continued, as members of
construction management in the nuclear power
industry, where most of our time was spent around
Kansas City and then on the Gulf Coast of Texas. We
fell in love with Texas and the Texas way of life. When
that project completed, we hated to leave Our many
close friends. We transferred to Augusta, GA., known
as the Garden City and home of the Masters Golf
Tournament in 1990. I am currently a Cerfified
Professional Warranty Administrator for a Five Star
Diamler/Chrysler dealer in suburban Augusta, Ga. John
and I have a consulting business where I provide
warranty assistance to various Diamler/Chrysler dealers
and selected General Motor1s dealers located in East
central Georgia. The current primary issues in my life
are. Finding time to see my grandchildren; they live in
Kansas City and Brussels, Belgium. Remodeling a
house built in 1948, that is located close to the Augusta
National Golf Course, where they play the Masters
tournament each spring. In addition, I enjoy planning
for our retirement and the time to travel extensively
both in the United States and around the world. What I
have learned during the years since graduation is that
life is an adventure with the world revolving around
family and friends
