11/16/2005 - I received the following e-mail from Cheryl Hart, daughter of Carolyn Lynn Hart. She would like to communicate with classmates who have memories of Carolyn that they would like to share with Cheryl.

Bob Thanks for posting the info re: my mom, Carolyn Lynn. My mom's sister Brenda went to Reitz and was a few years behind her. The family moved to CA just after my mom graduated so my aunt didn't graduate from Reitz but has still kept in touch with mutual friends (Sharon King Scott and a few others) I contacted Sharon personally as I saw her post on the site and had heard my aunt speak of her friendship with my mom often. She is going to write a letter and share some memories of their time in school but as yet, no others have contacted me. As for the elementary school they attended, I will have to ask my aunt if she remembers. I know they were born in IL and moved to IN some time during childhood but don't know which state they were living in at that time. I have my mom's autograph book from 50-51 school year and I see many names in there that were in attendance at the recent reunion so I know she was in IN by that time. She was also good friends with Patsy Branham, Gayle Shifer and Linda Dowdle. I attached her grad photo to jog your memory and a photo of her with my father Ken in 1960. She passed away one month after the first (10 year) reunion. I was mistaken in my original note; my dad was 29, she was one month shy of her 28th birthday and died at 27. Thanks again for the post and for taking the time to drop me a note. Blessings, Cheryl

My mother passed away December 26, 2004. I wish she would have been around to see the web page; she would have really enjoyed reading it! I have included her biography that was listed in the newspaper and at www.mem.com (no longer listed at this web site though). My father and I still live in my mother's family homestead, not far from where Barker School stood in Union Township. My mother graduated from Barker School, which was named after her great-great grandfather, William Rogers Barker. The homestead has been in the family since September 1832 and we have no intention of leaving. My mother was very proud of her family and heritage and her legacy will live on forever.
