Webster. Jim was a graduate of

purchased and learned how to fly a gyro copter.
Jim was proud of the fact that he was surrounded by many friends; if you were a friend of Jim's you were a friend

The following pertains to our classmate Nola (Monroe) Urlocker. This information was supplied by Don Gilman and Jim Irwin2008 1956 Nola (Monroe) Urlocker
NOLA SIMONE URLOCKER Born in South Bend, Indiana on 8 August 1938, went to be with her Lord and Savior, JESUS, on 5 August 2008. Her body would not respond after yet another abdominal surgery. The Lord must have declared, "Enough is Enough, No More Pain For My Tired Child, I Am Taking Her Home". Wherever she was, the soft glow of her smile and the kindness of and in her heart, sweetened whoever was fortunate to be near. She wanted everyone to know she loved the Lord Jesus, and wanted everyone to also know Him. She is with Him now, where she always intended to be, still praying and interceding for them with Jesus, waiting for them to make the same commitment. She was an artist with decorative arrangements,, an accomplished musician on piano and organ, and made a recordng some years ago for her husband, family and friends, entitled "Just Me". She leaves behind a grieving husband, her mother, 4 children, 5 great grandchildren, a sister and brother, and many, many friends. Our hearts are broken but for selfish reasons, because she is not with us, but also at the same time rejoicing that she is now safe with her Lord and Savior. Her favorite song is "Going Home", recorded by the Gaithers. When you hear it, you will know that what it says is where she wanted to be. According to her wishes, there will be no immediate service, but sometime in the near future, a family and close friend Memorial To Her Life, will be scheduled. "I Love You Forever And A Year, Sweetheart", your husband, Arn.

From Jim Irwin.
I received this sad news in response to the postcards I sent to our non-email classmates.
Dear Jim,
I received the information concerning the reunion, and am sad to tell you that my husband, James (Jim) George passed away last July 4th, 2010. He was 74 and had Alzheimers for twelve years. He always talked fondly about Wa-Hi and I know he would have ejoyed seeing his classmates again.
We had 39 wonderful years together and I am so thankful for that.

Hi,
I am sending you a copy of Wayne's obituary. Wayne died of Hemochromatosis. He was unaware that he had it until it was too late. He worked for Tally Corp. for many years located in the Seattle area. He then went to work for Boeing in Everett and retired from there. He was living in Granite Falls when he passed away. Thank you for the condolences on Wayne.

The following was received from Jim Irwin and pertains to our classmate Mike McElhaney.
Dear Classmates,
I do not have an obituary to send you but I do have some excellent pictures from our 70th birthday party to share with you. Mike appeared to be having a great
time with special friends from our class.
I just talked to Kathy on the phone a few minutes ago and learned that Mike and Kathy were on a vacation when during the the night of October 4th, 2010, Mike died
of an apparent heart attack in his sleep. They had just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 1st, and had just enjoyed their first visit to Lake
Tahoe and spending some time with their son and granddaughter.
I am sitting here at my computer tonight and raising a glass of my favorite Walla Walla Red Wine in a toast to one of our classmates from the "WA-Hi Class of
1956". I hope you will join me in remembering one of ours and offering a prayer and condolences for Mike's wife, Kathy and their family.
Yours Truly,
Jim Irwin, still in Walla Walla

Ladin Delaney
Dec. 10, 1937 -Sept. 09, 2010
Ladin "Red" Delaney passed away at his home on Sept. 7,2010. He was 72, when he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on Dec. 10, 1937, in Turtle Lake, N.D., to Lydia and James Delaney. He moved to Walla Walla with his parents when he was an infant. He attended Green Park Elementary, Pioneer Junior High and graduated in 1956 from Walla Walla High School, where he was class president before going on to Washington State University. While pursuing academic excellence at WSU, he also found time to get married. In 1958 he married Carol Davis, also of Walla Walla. He graduated from WSU in 1961, with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, and then again in 1962, with a master of science degree in sanitary engineering.
After receiving his master's degree, Red, Carol, and their 3-year-old daughter moved to Southern California, where Red began his career working for the state of California.
Ladin spent most of his career working for the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Diego Region. The Regional Board is a regulatory agency of the state of California with a mission of protecting
water quality. He began work for the Regional Board in 1962, and worked in various staff positions until his retirement in 1990. At the time of his retirement he was the board's executive officer, responsible for directing all of the staff that carried out the organization's mission. During Ladin's tenure, the regional board was in the forefront of efforts to improve water quality and the environment in areas under their jurisdiction in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties i'n California.
As a staff engineer, Ladin developed many of the regional board's water quality regulatory programs that are still being carried out. He worked on one of the regional board's earliest success stories, the restoration of San Diego Bay, by spearheading efforts to eliminate discharges of municipal a,nd industrial wastes. He later directed staff efforts to identify the impacts and sources of legacy pollutants in the Bay and implement remediation projects. While executive officer he convinced the regional board to mandate innovative and controversialcontaniinated sediment removal projects that were, at that time, unique in California. To his co-workers Ladin was a boss who maintained high standards, developed and brought out the best in his staff members and gave them his complete support. He was also a source of an endless repertoire of stories and jokes, freely provided to any audience at any time and any place. Because of his knowledge of water quality and his ability to charm his audience with stories and jokes he was in heavy demand as a public speaker.
In addition to his work with the regional board, Ladin was active in the California Water Pollution Control Association (now California Water Environment Association), serving as president of the local San Diego County section and the statewide organization. After retiring from the state in 1990, Ladin opened his own consulting business, but closed it after five years to spend more time with family. In December of 2004, Ladin and Carol sold their home in San Diego and moved back to their hometown of Walla Walla. Theylived in College Place for a year while building a new home. They moved into their new home in March of 2006, and spent their time putting in landscaping and a garden. .
Ladin is preceded in death by his older brother, Larry. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Peggy Jo and son-in-law Jim Muratsuchi of Kaneohe, Hawaii; two grandsons; brother, Bill Delaney of Camino, Calif.; sister, Grace Schipporeit of Salem, Ore.; and brother, John Delaney of Walla Walla.
A memorial service will be on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Herrin~ Groseclose Funeral Home in Walla Walla. A private family internment will occur at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Ladin's name to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Funeral Home.

I received this message from Darlene Burke about Gail Liljegren. I was not able to find an obituary on the net. I will forward it on if I am able to find it.
Jim Irwin
Dear Jim and classmates,
Perhaps you have already been notified of this death notice. If not,
it is sad for me to forward this news. Because I had not heard
anything from Gail since around August 1, (my husband and I have been
traveling a lot this summer and early fall) I sent an e-mail to her
yesterday and received no reply. Gail has always been very quick to
respond to all correspondence, so we feared there was a problem.
My husband did an on line search of deaths in New Jersey, and found
this information:

She was a dear friend, and I will deeply miss her, as I am sure many
of our classmates will.
